Bridge, Out Ahead is a blog and newsletter about the game of bridge. It features:

  • Running commentary on further development of my program that generates bridge deals and performs an automated auction. My program will never attempt to play the hand, so you will want to take the files into other programs for that. Posts about the program appear in the Computation Corner section of the blog. Check that section for posts that show you how to use the program to generate your own deals. If you have a question, contact me through the blog and I will either answer you directly or I will provide another how-to article if it seems like a topic of general interest.

  • Commentary on interesting deals that I come across while working on my program, or in live play, or in bridge literature. When I write about specific deals, I will also show you how to generate the deal in my program.

  • Bridge-based essays and fiction appear in the Written Works section.

If you look through older posts, you will see that I used to deliver files containing 32 bridge deals every day. Now, however, you can easily generate your own files of bridge deals and you can then import them into your favorite bridge software if it supports PBN or LIN files. Since you can generate your own customized sets of deals, I no longer provide such files. If you want to roll your own deals, just look through Computation Corner, reading from older posts to newer, and you will soon master the art of the (bridge) deal.

I hope you enjoy what you find in this blog. If you do enjoy it, spread the word to your friends, even if they don’t play bridge (yet).
