Deal Generator User Guide
Tutorial: use links and QR codes to share your deals and recipes
This is one of several user guides on specific topics. The directory for all user guides is here.
You may want to share your deals and recipes with others, such as by sending them to someone in an email, or placing them into an instructional document or an article. You can, of course, capture screen prints of your creations and share those; however, sometimes you might want to simply share a web address (URL, or link) with which users can reload and examine your deal or recipe.
Near the top of the Deal panel there is a “Link” button. When you click the button, a URL for the deal generator, with the current deal in the deal panel, will be copied to your browser’s clipboard. You can embed that link in a document, as I have done here.
There is another “Link” button at the top of the Recipe panel. When you click the button, a URL for the deal generator, with the current recipe (including the Shaper and the Cards panels) will be copied to your browser’s clipboard. You can embed that link in a document, as I have done here.
The Deal and Recipe panels also each have a “Report” button. When you click the button, a new “pre-print” panel appears. There, you can key in additional information such as a title and a description of your deal or recipe. Then, when you click the “Save PDF” button on that panel, your deal or recipe will be saved in a nicely-formatted PDF. The QR code for your deal or recipe will appear on that PDF. When you share your document, either electronically or on paper, users may use their cellphone or tablet camera to scan the QR code, and then click the resulting link to go to the deal generator web page with the deal or recipe loaded.
